Insulation whether it is cheap or expensive – is any object or material used to insulate a building or home. Insulation can be for thermal purpose yet it can also be for fire insulation or impact insulation depending on the application. We select insulation material due to its ability to suit the requirement , functions as per the need and cost.
Cheap Insulation can be practiced when the building under question is under construction. This is the stage to install cheap insulation techniques because the walls and ceilings are not plastered and are open. Cheap insulation depends on the following factors :
- Extent of insulation required by the owner or due to the weather conditions.
- Cheap insulation depends on where the insulation is installed.
Cheap insulation could be installed in interior walls, exterior surfaces , attics – all of these require different kind of insulation techniques and materials.
Fiberglass Batts as a Cheap Insulation material:
Fiberglass batt is essentially a traditional method of insulation done on the inside of exterior walls. Fiberglass batts are fitted in between wall studs and are extremely easy to install. The same cheap insulation technique can be used for attics , yet one has to take special care in attics to keep the batts thicker due to which the cost goes up.
Rigid Foam as Cheap Insulation Material :
Rigid Foam is one of the cheap insulation techniques used for the outer walls also on roof decks since it is hard and resistant to moisture and deterioration. It is one of the cheapest insulation techniques yet one of the hardest to install. Yet it is one of the most common exterior insulation method and very common.
Loose Fill Cellulose as a Cheap Insulation material:
Cellulose fill is commonly used for insulating attics and is a very cheap insulation material. This is installed by blowing it in using an air hose . Remember it is not meant for walls as it not successful on walls. Wool is another form of blown in insulation highly used for cheap insulation.
Spray Foam as a Cheap Insulation material:
Spray Foam is a modern version and increasing in popularity as far as cheap insulation material is concerned. For spray foam insulation one needs professionals and it is not possible to install it without prior training. Spray foam is sprayed on surfaces as a liquid however, it expands to fill in cavities. It is one of the most efficient techniques as leaves no gap for air to pass. If there is an existing structure it is most practical to add spray foam to walls. Spray foam is not only a cheap insulation technique , it also adds soundproofing and ahs structural value.
Energy estimates :
The cost of cheap insulation of a building or home is directly related to the amount of insulation required – both inside and outside the building/house. The amount of insulation depends on the kind of material used to construct the building and also how extreme the climatic conditions are. Once this is calculated and analyzed one can easily estimate the energy required for cheap insulation.
